Declare free education for female students – Dr Remi Medupin

A renowned Nigerian Development Economist, Dr Aderemi Medupin, has called on the Federal and state governments to declare female education free to enhance enrollment and the development of the country.

He described female education as key to the overall development of Nigeria.

Delivering a lecture titled “Girls Education in Nigeria” at the Government Secondary School, Afon, Asa Local Government Area of Kwara state on Friday as part of the ‘Weekend Service to Humanity’ activities of the National Association of Seadogs (Pyrates Confraternity), Dr Medupin, advised the female students of the co-educational institution to take their academic activities seriously to make progress in life.

He described education as their passport to a good life, adding that “if you want to make progress in life, you need education in all the careers in life.”

Dr Medupin, traced the history of eminent Nigerian females who rose to the height of their careers, noting that they achieved their dreams through education.

Quoting some philosophies, he said, “the educated differ from the uneducated as much as the living from the dead.”

In her speech, the Vice Principal of the school, Mrs Olawuyi Muyibat Omolara, advised female students to take their studies seriously and wear the academic gown first, before wearing the wedding and maternity gown.

She commended the Seadogs club for initiating the educative event which would go a long way to sensitize the students on the importance of education in their lives.

The Kwara State President of Seadogs, Engr. Adeolu Sayomi, said the theme of their weekend programme resonates with their platinum jubilee “70 Years of Service to Humanity” reflecting the abiding commitment to lend a hand to mankind.
