LaLiga: Why Asensio took penalty during Real Madrid’s 1-0 loss to Mallorca – Ancelotti

Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti, has explained why Marcos Asensio took a penalty during his side’s La Liga 1-0 defeat against Mallorca on Sunday.

Asensio missed a penalty as Nacho’s own goal gave Mallorca all three points against Real Madrid.

The result of the match means Real Madrid are five points behind leaders Barcelona on the La Liga table.

Speaking at his post-match press conference, Ancelotti gave a reason why Asensio took the penalty and not Rodrygo, he said: “I picked the taker because Benzema, Modrić and Kroos were all off the pitch at that point.

“It was between Asensio and Rodrygo and we thought that Rodrygo might be a little mentally affected from his miss in the World Cup.”

How Cristiano Ronaldo reacted to his father’s death – Scolari

Former Portugal boss Luiz Felipe Scolari has revealed how Cristiano Ronaldo reacted to his father’s death.

Scolari was Portugal’s manager in 2003 when Ronaldo made his senior debut for the Selecao.

He was in charge of the team for five years before leaving in 2008 to join Chelsea.

The Brazilian gaffer said he had to tell Ronaldo about his father’s death in 2005, adding that the forward opted to play despite the situation.
