FG vows to recover stolen railway properties

The federal government has vowed to recover all illegally occupied Nigeria Railway lands and properties nationwide.

The Railway Property Management Company Limited (RPMC), a subsidiary of the Nigeria Railway Corporation, disclosed this to journalists recently in Gombe.

RPMC managing director, Timothy Zalanga, said the government had set up a task force to achieve the objective.

He stated that the task force would conduct a nationwide audit to recover land whose records were lost over the years.

“Railway is back to serve Nigerians, and the overall interest of the Nigerian people is wider than that of an individual.

Consequently, we advise anybody who has built on the track or within a right of way to remove it because we will not sacrifice the interests of a majority of Nigerians for individual interests,” he said.
