EPL: Why we beat Manchester United 2-0 – Newcastle coach Howe

Newcastle United head coach, Eddie Howe, has explained why his team defeated Manchester United 2-0 in today’s Premier League tie.

Howe watched as two second half goals from Joe Willock and Callum Wilson gave Newcastle all three points against Man United at St. James Park.

The result means Newcastle are now in third position on the Premier League table with 50 points from 27 games.

Speaking at his post-match press conference after the game, Howe said Newcastle defeated Man United because his team performed well against the Red Devils in the second half.

He said: “We’ve had moments since the World Cup where we have not scored the goals we maybe should have. The first half was another example of that, where we were frustrated not to lead.

“We needed patience and felt if we performed the same way in the second half the goal would come, and it did.”
